DOE Recognizes Mannington, Mohawk, Shaw, Dow

Washington, DC, April 9, 2010--The U.S. Department of Energy has recognized Mannington Mills, Mohawk Industries, Shaw Industries, and Dow Chemical on its list of Save Energy Now Leader companies in the country.

The program has an ambitious goal to improve energy efficiency by 25% over the next ten years.

"(Their) commitment provides an inspiring example of how the country can tackle some of its most challenging energy and environmental issues, while continuing to boost our economic competitiveness," said U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu.

The industrial sector plays a major role in the health of the nation's economy and environment. Manufacturing contributes more to the U.S. economy than any other sector and employs 14 million workers – but also uses nearly one-third of all energy consumed in our country. Boosting industrial energy efficiency is a means to significantly reduce future carbon emissions in the United States.
