Dixie Says Fourth Quarter Sales Rise 24%

Chattanooga, TN, Jan. 7, 2011 -- Dixie Group told investors that sales in the fourth quarter rose 24%. 

Dixie said it expected an operating profit in the fourth quarter.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dixie said that commercial sales were up 26%, with carpet tile sales up 98%, while residential sales were up nearly 22%, with Dixie Home up 55%.

Dixie said it believes the industry will show improvement in the fourth quarter.

For the year, commercial sales were up nearly 5% with tile sales up 32%, compared to a year ago.

Residential sales were up nearly 18%, with Dixie Home up 40%, and company sales overall were up 13% with all brands showing growth.

Dixie said the Masland and Fabrica Wool Collections were up 30% in 2010, and its Durasilk polyester has grown dramatically. It also noted that carpet tile continues to take market share.
