Digital Sample Firm Expanding

Chattanooga, TN, Nov. 5--One of Chattanooga's most successful technology firms said it landed several new contracts during the third quarter, according to the Chattanoogan. Michael Hendrix said Tricycle has expanded to two offices and may soon need more room as well as personnel. Tricycle has also been selected to present at the Tennessee Venture Forum in Chattanooga on Nov. 17 and 18. This is the 7th annual event organized by the Tennessee Technology Development Corporation. Organizers expect over 300 qualified investors and venture capitalists to be in attendance. The company hopes to gain funding for expanding its services. Hendrix, who is a partner with Jonathan Bragdon along with Jamie Harrison and Andy Shipman of the UK, said Tricycle had third quarter sales to Shaw Contract, Interface Americas and Durkan Commercial. He said the new sales "have seen SIM Surface Simulation commercially utilized in groundbreaking and unique ways for each business." Hendrix said Tricycle developed a process that revolutionizes the way carpet samples are produced and distributed. He said in the past bulky carpet pieces were mailed out, resulting in high shipping costs as well as millions of tons of landfill waste. SIM reduces this cost and lead time. Tricycle's computer process simulates the carpet samples so the image can be printed out and distributed. The technology creates realistic images of carpet without photography or scanning. Tricyle also sells Apso computer design software and had recent installations at Walt Disney's Imagineering, Northwest Carpets and Brown Industries.
