de Beaumont Named RFCI President

Washington, DC, November 7, 2005--The Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI) had announced the appointment of Gilles de Beaumont, president of Tarkett Commercial in North America, as the trade organization’s 2006/2007 president. de Beaumont is replacing Brian Carson, senior vice president of innovation for Armstrong who served as president of RFCI from 2003 to 2005. “Gilles clearly has demonstrated his leadership ability since joining the Board,” said Douglas Wiegand, managing director of RFCI. “He is a person of unyielding integrity and his willingness to serve demonstrates his belief that you should seek to give back more than you receive. Tarkett is a long-standing company with great products and they reflect well on the industry and on RFCI.” In this new role, Mr. de Beaumont will have responsibility for all of the organization’s business affairs, while continuing to work with the Board of Directors. “I am honored to serve as president of RFCI,” said Gilles de Beaumont, president of Tarkett Commercial in North America. “This organization truly has helped raise the standards in the resilient flooring industry and I look forward to playing a larger role in helping to further its mission.” RFCI was established in 1976 to support the interests of the total resilient floor covering industry and the people who use its products. The organization promotes the use of resilient flooring; monitors and responds to federal, state and local legislation and regulations that impact the industry; develops guidelines for products to help ensure continued quality of resilient products; and provides technical information and data to the resilient floor industry. RFCI recently introduced the FloorScore program, developed in conjunction with Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), in order to test and certify flooring products for compliance with the highest standard of air quality emissions. A flooring product bearing the FloorScore seal has been independently certified by SCS to comply with the volatile organic compound emissions criteria of the California Section 01350 program. Products with the FloorScore seal are recognized as contributing to good indoor air quality in order to protect human health. RFCI has built a strong reputation for effectively responding to challenges facing today’s flooring industry. For additional information, visit www.rfci.com.
