Dal-Tile to Build Sales, Service Center in Tenness
Chattanooga, TN, January 11--Nearly 20 years after creating Bonny Oaks Industrial and Office Park, Hamilton County has sold its last available parcel at the site, according to the Chattanooga Times/Free Press. The proposed sale of a 2-acre tract to Dal-Tile Corp. fills out what for many years was Hamilton County's flagship industrial park with it having drawn more than $73 million in private investment, officials said. "It shows good space available at a reasonable price at a good location will sell," said Tom Edd Wilson, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce's chief executive. Dal-Tile, a division of Calhoun, Ga.-based Mohawk Industries Inc., plans to buy two acres for $130,000. Chris Wellborn, Dal-Tile's president, said the site will house a 12,000-square-foot ceramic tile sales and service center that will be 70 percent larger than one currently at the industrial park. Either Dal-Tile will build a facility or seek a developer to do so, he said. According to the county, the project is estimated at about $800,000. The facility will house about six workers within five years, the county reported. "Our business is growing rapidly with 15 to 20 percent growth rates," said Mr. Wellborn.
