CRI Seal of Approval Program Adds New Players

Dalton, GA, November 13, 2006--The Carpet and Rug Institute has added two new systems to its Seal of Approval category under systems cleaning. which certifies the products meet high performance standards. Two spot-removers and two presprays have also been added to the CRI Seal of Approval family as word continues to spread that some carpet manufacturers have made a decision to tie carpet warranties to the use of CRI SOA-approved products. Mighty Pack and Mighty Pro Systems, each manufactured by Rug Doctor out of Fenton, MO., can now assure customers that their system removes stains and soil from carpet without damaging the carpet pile or causing resoiling problems. The association also said it broached the subject of a new testing program for household extractors that would be tied to neither the current SOA nor Green Label Programs, but would not be unveiled until sometime in late 2007. Hollytex Spot Remover and Crystal Spotter are the two new spot removers and join Stay Clean Antisoil and Bonitz presprays as cleaning solutions that are rated among the best on the market. Hollytex Spot remover is manufactured by Beaulieu of America, which is headquartered in Dalton, GA., while Crystal Spotter is manufactured by RE Whittaker Company in New Castle, PA. Stay Clean Antisoil is made by The Bullen Companies, Inc., headquartered in Folcroft, PA, and Bonitz is made by the Bonitz Flooring Group out of Greenville, SC. Each product passed a series of stringent tests performed by an independent laboratory in order to make the list of cleaning solutions. The tests for spot removers, pre-sprays and in-tank solutions include protocols for efficacy (removing stains), resoiling (whether the product attracts soil at an accelerated rate), pH (excessively acid or alkaline products can affect dyes and fibers), optical brighteners (can adversely affect color, appearance and performance) and colorfastness to light (residues on pile yarn can accelerate color change). To date there are now 71 cleaning solutions which have earned SOA designation.
