CPSC and Pottery Barn Recall Rugs

Washington, July 26--The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the Pottery Barn, announced a voluntary recall of a rug imported from India. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. (To access color photos of the recalled products, see CPSC's Web site at http://www.cpsc.gov.) The product is the Pottery Barn Bailey Chenille Rugs. Classic Concepts of Los Angeles, Calif., and Williams Sonoma/Pottery Barn of San Francisco, Calif. were the importer/distributor of about 960 units. The recalled rugs violate the federal Flammable Fabrics Act and could ignite, presenting a risk of burn injuries. No incidents or injuries were reported. The recalled Pottery Barn Bailey Chenille Rugs are "periwinkle blue" color only. Two models/sizes are recalled: 4479028 (8' x 10') and 4479036 (5' x 8'). These rugs are 65% rayon and 35% cotton. They were sold at Pottery Barn retail stores nationwide, from Nov. 11, 2002 to Aug. 27, 2003, for $199 to $399 and manufactured in India. Consumers should stop using the rugs and contact Classic Concepts to arrange for the rug to be picked up and shipped back to Classic Concepts. Consumers will receive a full refund when the recalled rugs are returned.
