Coverings Calls for Entries for 2006 Spectrum Awar
Alexandria, VA, November 28, 2005--Architects, designers, builders, contractors, distributors, retailers, installers and other professionals from around the world will be vying for the chance to win a $10,000 Grand Prize in the 2006 Spectrum Awards presented by Coverings, the largest and most comprehensive annual marketplace for tile and stone. The Call for Entries has been issued; a downloadable version of the entry brochure along with details on how to enter can be found on www.coverings.com/spectrum2006. The competition, which draws installations representing excellence in the use of ceramic tile, seeks residential and commercial projects. To be considered, projects must have been completed within the timeframe of January 2003-December 2005. “It was an honor to have my tilework recognized by leaders in the industry, and winning only added to the excitement of attending Coverings,” remarked 2005 Grand Prize winner John Mandel, president of Red Canyon Tile & Stone in Lander, WY. Eric N. Rattan, owner of Santa Fe Design Studios, Madison, WI, and 2005 recipient of the Residential Award of Merit, echoed similar sentiments. “It was a dream come true to win this past year-–I encourage people to enter because not only was my client base expanded, but I was able to network with the ‘real’ players in the industry.” More than one project can be submitted and must be accompanied by a pocket folder with an official entry form, a typed project description and identification information, high resolution photography and a $100 single entry fee (plus $85 for each subsequent entry). The deadline for entering is Friday, February 3, 2006. The $10,000 Grand Prize winner, chosen by an independent panel of judges from the tile, architecture and design communities, will be announced on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, during the opening ceremony which kicks off the Coverings show. Prizes totaling $8,000 will also be awarded to the First Prize and Award of Merit winners in the Residential and Commercial categories. The 2006 Spectrum Awards is sponsored by Coverings and coordinated by its five sponsoring organizations including ASCER (Spain’s Ceramic Tile Manufacturers Association), Assopiastrelle (Association of Italian Ceramic Tile and Refractories Manufacturers), CTDA (Ceramic Tile Distributors Association), NTCA (National Tile Contractors Association) and TCNA (Tile Council of North America).
