Coverings Calls for 2005 Spectrum Award Entries

Alexandria, VA, November 26—Coverings announced the call for entries to the 2005 Spectrum Awards, honoring outstanding achievements in ceramic tile design. The $10,000 grand prize will be awarded at the opening General Session of Coverings 2005, to be held in Orlando at the Orange Country Convention Center from May 3 - May 6, 2005. The 2005 Spectrum Awards competition is open to architects and other design professionals whose projects demonstrate creativity and achievement in the use of tile in residential and commercial design. The deadline for entries is 5:00 p.m. on February 18, 2005, and the projects must have been completed within the last two years (February 2003-February 2005) to be considered. The surface materials used in the installation must be ceramic tile. Multiple entries are accepted and encouraged. Submissions must include the $100 single fee (plus $85 for each additional entry), a binder with an official entry form, a typed project description, high-quality photographs of the entry and an identification of the submission. Architects, designers and consumers alike recognize its beauty and value." An independent panel of judges from the tile, architectural and design communities selected by Coverings and its five sponsors will evaluate entries based on creativity in design and excellence in implementation. Additional prizes include: Residential First Prize, $2,500; Residential Award of Merit, $1,500; Commercial First Prize, $2,500; Commercial Award of Merit, $1,500.
