Issaquah, WA, May 31, 2006--Costco Wholesale Corp., reported third-quarter earnings that were up 12.3 percent, aided by higher sales and membership fees.
For the quarter ended May 7, the company reported net income of $235.6 million, or $0.49 per share, versus a prior-year profit of $209.8 million, or $0.43 per share. Total revenue, including membership fees, rose to $13.27 billion from $12 billion.
Wall Street had forecast a profit of $0.50 per share on projected sales of $13.17 billion.
Same store sales rose 7 percent during the quarter.
