Core Producer Prices Rise in December

Washington, DC, Jan. 18, 2012 -- Core producer prices rose 0.3% in December, the biggest monthly gain since July 2011 and higher than the 0.1% gain expected by economists, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The overall producer price index, which doesn't strip out food and energy costs, declined 0.1% in December.
