Consumer Spending, Income Rise in October

Washington, DC, Nov. 26, 2014 -- U.S. consumer spending picked up at a modest pace in October, according to the Commerce Department.

Personal spending rose a seasonally adjusted 0.2% from the prior month, the government said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, personal income also increased 0.2%.

September spending was revised up to a flat reading from the initially reported 0.2% fall.

Consumers spent less on more expensive items such as cars and appliances, according to the report.
