Consumer Sentiment Up In June

Ann Arbor, MI, June 17--Consumer sentiment improved in June, according to the University of Michigan consumer sentiment index. The gauge rose to 94.8 from 86.9 in May. Economists were expecting the index to increase, but to only 88.6. Expectations for the future also improved, with that component of the index rising to 84.8 from 75.3 in May, while Americans' assessment of current conditions climbed to 110.4 from 104.9 in May.
