Consumer Sentiment Up at End of August

Ann Arbor, MI, September 1, 2006--Consumer sentiment improved in late August, according to media reports of proprietary research from the University of Michigan. The final August University of Michigan consumer sentiment index rose to 82.0 from 78.7 in early August, but the index was down from 84.7 in July. The final current conditions index rose to 103.8 from 103.5 in July and 100.8 in early August. The final expectations index rose to 68.0 from 100.8 in early August, but was down from 72.5 in July.
