Consumer Sentiment Ticks Up in May
Ann Arbor, MI, May 15, 2009--The Reuters/University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers' preliminary May consumer sentiment index rose to 67.9 from April's final reading of 65.1, according to a report released on Friday.
Economists expected a preliminary May reading of 67.0.
The Expectations reading recorded the biggest gain, from 63 in April to 69 this month. However, the Current Conditions reading fell slightly, from 68.3 to 66.2.
