Consumer Sentiment Lower Than Expected

 

Ann Arbor, MI, Oct. 29, 2010 -- U.S. consumer sentiment fell to 67.7 in October from 68.2 in September, according to a survey released Friday by Reuters and the University of Michigan.

A prior estimate for sentiment in October was 67.9.

Economists had expected a final October reading of 68.5. Worry over jobs has weighed down consumers. The average level of the index was around 88 prior to the most recent recession.
