Ann Arbor, MI, April 28, 2006--Consumer sentiment, according to the University of Michigan consumer sentiment index, weakened slightly in late April.
The index inched lower to 87.4 in late April from 89.2 earlier in the month. The index was at 88.9 in March.
Economists were expecting the index to inch lower to 89.0.
The expectations index fell to 73.4, the lowest since November. The current conditions index fell to 109.2 from 111.1 earlier in the month.
