Consumer Sentiment Highest in Over Four Years

Ann Arbor, MI, May 25, 2012 -- The final May reading of the University of Michigan-Thomson Reuters consumer sentiment index rose to 79.3 in May, the highest level since October 2007.

The final April reading was 76.4.

Economists had expected a final May reading of 77.8.

The index averaged about 87 in the year before the recession.
