Construction Unemployment Edges Down
New York, NY, July 11, 2011 -- Unemployment in construction continued to edge down in June, according to statistics released last week by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The unemployment rate in the construction industry fell to 15.6% in June from 16.3% in May.
Nearly all areas of construction segments posted job losses in June. However, nonresidential specialty trade contractors saw an increase of 3,100.
The largest decrease was in residential specialty trade contractors, which showed a decline of 8,400 jobs. Buildings construction was down 1,900.
