Construction at Unilin’s North Carolina Plant Maki

Thomasville, NC, February 7--Unilin Flooring, which makes Quick-Step laminate floors, said it is making progress in construction of its new facility near Interstate 85 in Thomasville, with segments of the project now "weather-tight," according to the Triad The Business Journal. The first of four buildings on the $80 million Unilin campus, the press building, began having press equipment installed late last mongth. The press line should be functional by early May, the company said. The cutting and milling building will be the next and most critical building for the project, the company said. Foundation is being poured currently, and steel should begin being erected in two weeks. Production equipment will begin to be installed in May, with the building being fully functional in late summer. The cutting and milling building will process flooring panels. Two other buildings -- the impregnation building and the distribution center -- are scheduled to follow the same construction timeline as the cutting and milling building, with steel being erected in March.
