Conservative Economists Push for Housing Aid
New York, NY, Oct. 19, 2011 -- Conservative economists are increasingly pushing for troubled home borrowers to be bailed out by the government in some way.
Yahoo Finance reports that Kenneth Rogoff, the Harvard economist who advised John McCain in the 2008 campaign, Martin Feldstein, the Harvard economics professor who served as President Reagan's top economics adviser, and Columbia Business School Dean Glenn Hubbard, who served as Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers from 2001 to 2003, are all pushing for more government involvement.
The suggestions include easier refinancing for government backed mortgage, to banks and the government splitting the losses for reduced mortgage principal.
