Congoleum Delays Filing Quarterly Report

Mercerville, NJ, August 20, 2007--Congoleum Corp. today reported that it has not filed its quarterly report for the period ended June 30 because the SEC has not completed its review of the company's financial statements.

Congoleum issued a press release August 10 with preliminary financial results for the period and said that the filing of the 10-Q might be delayed.

In June, the SEC requested information on Congoleum's accounting policies and disclosures related to asbestos liabilities and costs after reviewing the company's 2006 annual report.

Congoleum said it expects the SEC review and the filing of its quarterly report to be completed within three months.

On December 31, 2003, Congoleum filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to resolve asbestos claims.
