Conditions Improving Slowly, Economist Says
Washington, DC, Nov. 16, 2010 -- Last week's economic indicators showed "positive momentum into the fourth quarter," according to Dave Huether, chief economist for the National Association of Manufacturers.
Three of the five major indicators improved, he said, while one remained unchanged but continued to grow and just one declined.
"While it appears that economic conditions are improving from the third quarter, when the Commerce Department's advanced estimate showed that GDP grew at an annual rate of just 2 percent, evidence of a pronounced upturn is hard to find," Huether said.
However, he noted that the one area of the recovery that appears to be solid is exports.
