Columbia Continues Layoffs in Virginia
Danville, VA, Jan. 28, 2009--Columbia Flooring Inc. will lay off employees at its manufacturing plant in Danville, according to GoDanRiver.com.
The reductions will “take place as the company manages production to parallel consumer demand,” according to a written statement from the company.
Columbia, part of Mohawk Industries, makes hardwood flooring. The company pointed to the economic downturn and decreased market demand as factors.
“At this time, our primary concern is providing assistance to the men and women who work at the Danville.
Columbia already gave notices to employees at its Arkansas plant.
