Columbia Announces Price Increase

Danville, VA, Sept. 22--Columbia Flooring today announced the company will institute a price increase of up to 10 percent on its 3/4" prefinished solid oakhardwood flooring products. The increase is in response to a long-running industry trend of rising hardwood lumber costs. "Lumber prices have risen almost 22 percent in the past year," Columbia Director of Sales John Patterson said. "Unfortunately, we cannot continue to absorb this increase and, in line with other publicly announced increases from other manufacturers, must raise our own prices accordingly." The new pricing, effective November 1, 2003, applies only to Columbia's prefinished oak collection, which includes Adams, Taylor, Carrollton and Thornton 3/4" solid hardwood offerings. The company's engineered hardwood flooring products, exotic Out of Africa Collection and Dales Collection glueless longstrip flooring are exempt from the increase. A wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Forest Products, Columbia Flooring is a leading manufacturer and marketer of hardwood and laminate flooring
