'Color Me Beautiful' Part of Carpet One Program

Kennesaw, GA, July 15, 2008--On July 22, Wear-Dated’s Christine  Whittemore, director of in-store innovation, will present Color Me Beautiful: Let Color be Your Guide to Sales Success at Carpet One Floor & Home’s Summer Convention Education Day.

The session will take place at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel Convention Center in Nashville. Two sessions are scheduled: 9:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.

Whittemore will discuss the source of current color trends, how color affects mood and how it reflects personal preferences as well as cultural influences.

Using the recent Wear-Dated 2008 color folio, Field Guide to Color, which is a study of nature’s color palettes as illustrated by Audubon’s birds, Whittemore will also demonstrate how to build a personal color palette for customers to use.

“It’s important to relate color and design to the purchasing process,” she says. “Color is a major factor in how women consumers make purchase decisions, especially since women are the primary decision-makers for the home. That makes using and discussing color in the retail setting both practical and valuable to all involved.”

A comfort level with color allows retailers to differentiate their retail experiences from those of others.

“As important as color is to consumers’ purchase processes, many flooring retailers aren’t comfortable discussing color,” says Frank Santaniello, senior manager Carpet One Floor & Home University.

“However, when they do, retailers have an opportunity to add significant value to conversations with consumers. This presentation will enable them to use color as a guide to sales success and offer consumers a reason to return more frequently.”
