Colbond Hikes Prices
Arnhem, The Netherlands, & Ashville, NC, October 19– Colbond, producer of industrial nonwovens, and three-dimensional polymeric mats and composites, will increase the prices worldwide for its entire product range effective January 1, 2005. The prices will typically rise 8% to 10%. Soaring raw material costs are the primary drivers for this necessary action. "Since January 2003 polyester, polyamide and polypropylene chips costs increased 30% to 45% (20% of which arisen in 2004) and a turnaround is not yet to be observed" says Colbond’s vice president Mr. Axel Poscher. "We delayed the price increase now announced for as long as possible. However, the magnitude of cost inflation unfortunately leaves the company no other option than to pass on part of the costs to the customers." Headquartered in Arnhem, the Netherlands, Colbond is a leading producer of high-quality synthetic nonwovens for flooring, automotive and construction applications, and three-dimensional polymeric mats and composites for civil engineering, building and industrial products. It employs 625 people worldwide and has production plants in the Netherlands, Germany and the USA.
