CMAI Completes 2003 World Nylon Fibers & Feedstock

Houston, TX, Sept. 17--CMAI recently completed the 2003 World Nylon Fibers and Feedstocks Analysis and the data is available to clients immediately. This study provides a comprehensive review of the nylon fibers markets, examining the historic demand for each consuming country in the world. It also presents a value analysis of nylon fiber by market segments, and an assessment of the future supply potential is presented to provide an understanding of the current global market and to develop a forecast for future supply/demand developments. The overall conclusions that can be drawn from the 2003 World Nylon Fibers and Feedstocks Analysis are: --Nylon fiber will be in an over capacity situation in North America and West Europe as industrial and textile demand shifts to lower labor cost world areas, primarily Asia where finished goods are increasingly being made. --The growth in nylon 6 infrastructure in Asia and the availability of technology and raw materials will allow nylon 6 to capture a disproportionate share of nylon's overall future growth. --State of the art capacity will continue to be added in Asia and will likely exceed demand growth. --Nylon 6 and nylon 6,6 will continue to see competition from other polymers and this will be exacerbated during polyester market troughs. --There will be regional consolidation of capacity in North America and Europe as demand increasingly shifts to Asia. --The nylon 6 and 6,6 impacts can also be seen on the intermediates caprolactam and adipic acid as well as cyclohexane.
