CHN Plywood Products Face Antidumping Duties in Both U.S. & E.U.
Washington, DC, May 5, 2017-Both the U.S. and the E.U. are imposing antidumping duties on Chinese importers of hardwood plywood products.
Preliminary determinations on the antidumping duties imposed by the U.S. Department of Commerce on Chinese hardwood plywood imports are expected by mid-June, according to the Hardwood Plywood Veneer Association (HPVA).
Last month, the Department of Commerce imposed countervailing duties of 9.89% to 111.09%. Both the final determination and the ITC hearing on injury to the domestic industry will take place in November.
Across the pond, the European Commission just imposed an antidumping duty on imports of Chinese okoumé hardwood plywood, ranging from 6.5% to 66.7%.
“The decision was made after more than 25% of EU producers of okoumé plywood complained to the European Timber Trade Federation, asking for an investigation into the very low price of plywood imported from China,” reports the HPVA.
