China Imposes Tariffs on Nylon Imports

Hong Kong, China, April 22, 2010—The Commerce Ministry of China levied a 96.5% duty on certain types of nylon imports from the U.S. This ruling resulted from a year-long investigation into the dumping of Nylon 6, or polycaprolactam, and takes effect today.

This duty more than doubles the preliminary anti-dumping tariff of 36.2% set in October and will be in effect for five years. The European Union, Russia and Taiwan were also named in the ruling. The U.S. and E.U. are planning to hold trade talks with China in the coming weeks.
