Checks on the Way for Prizant's Customers
Pittsburgh, PA, March 14, 2008-- Pennsylvania State Attorney General Tom Corbett said Friday that customers of Prizant's Carpet will receive restitution checks within the next two weeks.
Prizant's abruptly went out of business just before Christmas, leaving unfulfilled orders for carpet.
The payments to 126 customers will range from $25 to $2,200, and include full repayments for deposits on flooring that was never installed.
Another 52 Prizant's customers received credits totaling about $35,000 to their credit card deposit payments. Penn Hills-based had been in business for 45 years before closing down, although relatively recently ownership had changed.
An agreement between the state and Prizant's was reached on Jan. 11 and $100,000 was reserved to refund customers' money.
