Chain-Store Sales Up 0.3% Last Week

New York, NY, September 11, 2007--Chain-store sales rose 0.3% for the week of ended September 8, compared with the prior week, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers and UBS Securities.

Sales were up 2.9% verses the same week of the prior year.

"Sales improved moderately over last week as the August sales momentum continued into the September fiscal month," said Michael Niemira, chief economist for the ICSC. "Despite the more negative economic picture painted by the August decline in employment, consumers continued to spend at a moderate pace."
