Chain-Store Sales Up 0.2% Last Week

New York, NY, September 5, 2007-- Chain-store sales rose 0.2% for the week ended September 1, compared with the prior week, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers and UBS Securities.

Sales compared with the year-ago period were up 2.3%.

"Sales improved slightly by the end of August, but the year-over-year momentum remained relatively steady and sluggish," said ICSC chief economist Michael Niemira. ICSC still expects sales to increase by about 2% to 2.5% for the month.
