Chain Store Sales Rose Sharply Last Week

New York, NY, June 30, 2010--U.S. chain-store sales rose 3% this past week, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Goldman Sachs.

Counter sales at the chains rose 2.1% from the previous week as department store business picked up, stated ICSC's chief economist  Michael Niemira.

ICSC maintains that for the month of June, chain-store sales should increase 3-4% compared with one year ago.
