Chain Store Sales Off 1.6%

Sales compared with the year-ago period rose 2.7% compared to the year-ago period. "Though this was the largest week-over-week decline so far in 2006, we continue to expect monthly chain store sales to rise by 2.5% to 3% for March, on a year-over-year basis," ICSC chief economist Michael Niemira said.
