Sacramento, CA, October 5, 2005--CFI and the Carpet One dealers of Northern California, Regional Group #803 joined together to provide an installation-training program on October 21-22, 2005. The event will take place at the Xpress Global Facility located at 11255 Pyrites Way, Gold River, California 95670. The Carpet One Regional #803 Group is providing the breakfast and the lunch on Saturday. This is one in a series of the new educational installation programs. At 5:30 on Friday evening, October 21, the CFI team of trainers will present demonstrations and review the information that is presented on Saturday. The installers work in teams based on years in the trade to address specific situations of interest. At the discretion of the trainers at the conclusion of the event on Saturday, installers whose skills qualify will be awarded the R-I and/or C-I CFI Certification. Those who are seeking this designation are required to complete the written test on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. Installers are invited to participate in skills training who do not have the required two-years of experience or who are not seeking certification. Registration forms are available at www.cfiinstallers.com or by contacting the CFI National Office at 816.231.4646. Registration is required. Installers are to bring their tools. The event sponsors are Mohawk Industries, provider of the carpet; Sponge Cushion Inc and Leggett and Platt (cushion); AAT, APAC, Halex, Orcon and Seam Master who furnish the supplies. World Floor Covering Members may apply for trade scholarships for the program. Jeff Krekelberg, Owner of Gold River Floors Carpet One of Sacramento, “ “Carpet One is excited about this opportunity to encourage the installers to attend. Working together, it is our goal to provide our customers in the area with the most proficient installation professionals. The Carpet One Regional Group is planning to train and certify installers on a regular basis. We see the value in education and the difference it can make for our installation teams.” Speaking at the Sacramento Valley Floor Covering Association meeting September 21, 2005, Jim Walker said, “Training is the most important opportunity that installers have to keep their skills and knowledge updated. Today’s carpet backings and patterns require advanced knowledge. They cannot be installed using yesterday’s methods. I commend your association for working together to sponsor an educational event that targets the installation community.” The Sacramento Valley Floor Covering Association and the World Floor Covering Association are also sponsoring a CFI Certification at the same location October 21-22. Those attending the certification are required to attend on Friday evening and complete the written test. No assistance is available during the certification process. Installers are registered from as far away as Idaho and Colorado. The changing focus of installation education provides an opportunity for installers to attend for certification or for the day of specialized training. The cost is $290.00 per installer with registration and payment due prior to the event.
