Certified European Laminate Quality Group Disbands
Paris, France, July 10, 2009--Laminate flooring industry association Certified European Laminate Quality (CELQ) has decided to disband in response to markets trends.
The organization, which is responsible for issuing the CELQ quality seal, said the CEQL seal had not managed to achieve acceptance among end consumers alongside the more well-known EPLF (European Producers of Laminate Flooring) logo.
It said the problem was exacerbated by the introduction of the CE symbol for laminate flooring at the start of 2006 which overlapped with important parts of the CELQ seal. The CE seal is synonymous with European product safety and is binding for all products manufactured in Europe.
“End consumers are also increasingly being overwhelmed with quality and environmental seals which has led to a loss of credibility in them,” CELQ said.
The CELQ quality seal will still be in force until the end of the year.
