Ceramic Tile Imports Declined 5% in First Ten Months of 2024
New York, NY, December 10, 2024-In the first ten months of the year, total U.S. imports of ceramic tile were 148.7 million square meters, a decline of 5.0% from the same period in 2023 when imports were 156.6 million square meters, according to Grosser Consulting.
The decrease was due to the decline in imports from Mexico (-14.5%), Brazil (-24.3), Turkey (-21.0) and Spain (-3.0%). Imports from India were up by 1.0%, from Italy were up 1.3%, and from Vietnam were up 45.6%.
Imports in square meters were as follows: India is in first place with 31.5 million square meters, followed by Spain (26.6 million square meters), Italy (23.5 million square meters), Mexico (22.8 million square meters), Brazil (11.3 million square meters), Turkey (10.9 million square meters) and Vietnam (7.7 million square meters). Total imports were 148.8 million square meters (-5.0%).
Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy is in first place with $475 million (-3.5%), followed by Spain ($404 million, -1.3%), Mexico ($211 million, -8.3%), India ($162 million, +3.2%), Turkey ($88 million, -27.1), Brazil ($79 million, -23.7) and Vietnam ($49 million, +43.4%). Total imports valued $1.625 million (-4.5%).
