Ceramic Imports to U.S. Declined 10.1% in First 9 Months of 2023
New York, NY, November 9, 2023--In the first nine months of 2023, total US imports of ceramic tile were 141.6 million square meters, a decline of 10.1% from the same period in 2022 when imports were 157.5 million square meters, reports Grosser Consulting.
This decrease was due to the declines in imports from Spain (-24.4%), Italy (-21.2%), Turkey (-37.5%), Brazil (-17.9%) and Mexico (-3.9%). Imports from India were up 38.2%.
Imports in square meters were as follows: India is in first place with 28.2. million square meters, followed by Spain (25.0 million square meters), Mexico (23.9 million square meters), Italy (21,2 million square meters), Brazil (13.7 million square meters) and Turkey (12.3 million square meters).
Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy is in first place with $451 million, followed by Spain ($372 million), Mexico ($205 million), India ($141 million), Turkey ($110 million) and Brazil ($94 million). Total dollar imports were down by 9.4% from $1.702 million to $1.542 million.
Average F.O.B values per square meter were as follows: Italy ($21.32), Spain ($14.90), Mexico ($8.58), India ($5.00), Turkey ($8.95), Brazil ($6.86). The average for all countries was $10.89.
