CCA Shares Consumer Flooring Trends During ConneXtion

Orlando, FL, January 16, 2025-Speaking to the roughly 1,000 members in attendance at CCA Global's ConneXtion conference this week, vice president of hard surface Cathey Gundlach Links shared some consumer trends garnered from sales at the group's 900 Retail 2.0 stores.

CARPET

* Patterned products are the most popular, representing nearly 40% of purchases. Smaller-scale prints are growing in sales, especially pin-dot looks.

* Multi-texture products, which make up about 30% of sales, are seeing explosive growth in options that are 50 ounces or above, making it "clear that more people are looking for comfort with a touch of luxury," with most turning to solution-dyed polyester (though the sales system is "fiber-agnostic").

* Loop products are the fastest-growing category, with consumers moving toward smaller geometric patterns, pin-dot looks and even Berbers, though with a chunkier look.

HARD SURFACE

* Gray is continuing to decline in popularity, accounting for less than 7% of wood and wood-look sales last year.

* Shades with a hint of auburn have "skyrocketed" in popularity and now account for almost 30% of wood and wood-look sales.

* While vinyl still leads the wood-look category, laminate is gaining share. In conjunction, laminate will make up 20% of Retail 2.0's 2025 related winter launches, compared to 10% last year.

At the event, CCA unveiled a new approach to tile-buying in conjunction with updates to its Retail 2.0 selling system. The program is being tested by around 40 dealers.
