CBP Investigating Five Firms for Suspicion of Evading Tariffs

Washington, DC, November 26, 2018--U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) has initiated a hardwood plywood circumvention action, according to the Decorative Hardwoods Association. 

“The organization will investigate whether a group of importers has been evading anti-dumping and countervailing duties on select hardwood plywood from China by transshipping Chinese white birch plywood though Vietnam. 

“Evidence reviewed to date establishes a ‘reasonable suspicion.’”

The case, number 7252, addresses Oliver Wong of Far East American; Shuning Xu of Ciel Group; John Bennett of American Pacific Plywood; David Stone/Matt McNichols of InterGlobal Forest; and J. Bradford Coors of Liberty Woods International.
