Larimer, PA July 28—Who said carpets were for walking on? A product called FunSlides Carpet Skates has just won the Creative Child Magazine Seal of Excellence Award from the magazine's 2004 Top Creative Toy Awards panel.
Manufactured by Simtec, FunSlides Carpet Skates won the award in the Indoor/Outdoor Play category.
Simtec is best known for EZ Moves Furniture Slides, which allow one person to move large, heavy furniture with ease. The company "slid" into the toy market when they found out the friction-resistant foam pads were being used for fun by adults and children.
The company also offers Carpet Pucks, with a foam core that allows them to bounce off walls. Games of carpet hockey are best played in a large, carpeted recreation room or athletic facility.
FunSlides Carpet Skates and other entrants will be featured in the holiday issue of Creative Child Magazine scheduled for Nov. 15 and on the magazine's website.
