Carpet Scraps To Be Used To Make Tote Bags

Valley, AL, March 30, 2010--Fifteen workers will begin work producing tote bags and purses using scrap carpet material provided by carpet tile manufacturer InterfaceFlor.

After manufacturing, the tote bags will then be purchased by InterfaceFlor
for its customers, something it has done in the past.

The bags will be produced at Langdale Mill, a closed textile facility previously operated by Westpoint Pepperell.

EPA assisted the area with $453,000 in Brownfields Assessment and Cleanup Grants to help the community reuse this mill for office space and a new sewing operation.

“We’re very excited about the opportunity to partner with EPA and Valley to ensure these scrap materials are recycled and put to good use, said Interface’s David Gerson, director of community relations.
