Carpet One Stores Give School Library Makeovers

Manchester, NH, October 7--Back-to-school has never been so exciting. Summer vacation is ending, but students and faculty at public schools across North America are grinning from ear-to-ear. These elementary schools were elected by local community residents to receive complimentary library or media center makeovers, courtesy of their local Carpet One stores. It’s all part of a new grassroots community relations campaign called "Carpet One Makes A Difference." After a monthlong "election" at participating Carpet One stores this past July, the votes have been tallied and the election results are official. This local elementary school library or media center makeover is part of a nationwide, grassroots community relations campaign called "Carpet One Makes A Difference," in which Carpet One stores throughout North America will be giving complimentary "facelifts" to local elementary school libraries or media centers. Makeovers will take place on Saturday, October 23rd, which is "Make A Difference Day," the largest national day of community service. Established and supported by USA Weekend magazine, "Make A Difference Day" is an annual celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Last year, three million volunteers participated with local community efforts. In 2004, Carpet One stores across North America are leveraging their broad reach and influence to heighten the impact of “Make A Difference Day.” "Carpet One Makes A Difference" is the first nationwide grassroots effort supporting “Make A Difference Day” in the program’s 14-year history.
