Carpet One and The Marine Toys for Tots Team Up

Manchester, NH, December 23--This holiday season, Carpet One will partner for the seventh consecutive year with The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation. Carpet One will make a monetary donation to the Toys for Tots Foundation, while Carpet One stores nationwide will donate thousands of books to children in need. Carpet One’s support of children’s literacy programs has helped bring more than 335,000 books to deserving children. This program is significant in that it allows children who otherwise might not have the opportunity to obtain books the chance to discover the joys of reading. Studies have shown that the more access children have to books and reading, the lower their stress levels become and the better their logic and communication skills. Carpet One and its members nationwide support the Toys for Tots program as part of their ongoing commitment to their local communities and children’s literacy. Last year, Carpet One stores donated more than 25,000 books to the Toys for Tots Foundation. Carpet One has set a goal to exceed last year’s donation this holiday season. This year’s books will target children of all ages, from preschoolers to early readers and juniors. "Though we are a national company, we know the tremendous effect we can have at the local level when we become involved," said Dean Marcarelli, co-Chief Operating Officer of Carpet One. "Improving children’s literacy is an issue that is a priority for us, and our partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is the perfect vehicle for enriching the lives of young ones in our communities. Founded in 1947, the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation has created a holiday tradition that has brought joy to countless children. Last year, the U.S. Marine Corps was able to distribute 15 million toys to more than 6.6 million of our nation’s children.
