Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 27, 2006--With more than 150,000 pieces to be exhibited for all carpet and antique lovers, the Carpet Oasis promises to be one of the main attractions of this year's Dubai Shopping Festival.
The Dubai Shopping Festival 2006 - 2007 runs between December 20, 2006 and February 2, 2007.
Inspired by the ancient trade route, the 'Silk Road', The Carpet Oasis this year added 50,000 unique pieces compared to its previous exhibition in 2005 to maintain its streak of success achieved in the past editions of DSF. Since its inception in 1996 by Dubai Ports Authority,
The Carpet Oasis proved to be a huge success, and its sales figures have been rising sharply year after year, reaching a whopping Dh 80 million in 2005. And for the forthcoming round, the Carpet Oasis is expected to achieve higher sales on account of its sheer variety and larger offering coming in from various participating artisans from carpet-producing countries.
Abul Rahman Eissa, Head of the Organizing Committee, Carpet Oasis said: 'We have expanded our Oasis this year to include 2 new exhibitions for ancient antiques and hand made artifacts, in addition to rare and exclusive photographs. We basically aim to make this edition of The Carpet Oasis exceptional on many a level'.

Eissa pointed that some of these carpets are one-of-its-kind world wide as it was woven especially for the DSF 2006-2007.
'Visitors of this year's Carpet Oasis will have a lot to look forward to as we are preparing to launch several surprises during the 45 days long event. We will thrive to elevate this event to the highest standards set by the DSF this year, and expect to attract a record breaking number of visitors', Eissa added.
The Carpet Oasis will be located at the west hall of Dubai International Airport Exhibition Centre. 'This comes after reviewing the feedback that we got from both the exhibitors and the visitors of the Carpet Oasis', Eissa explained, 'the location enjoys a wide range of services and facilities in addition to ample parking spaces'.
Eissa concluded by saying that the timings of the Oasis, 10 Am to 10 Pm every day during the DSF, were set to allow the maximum number of visitors to attend the event. Last year the number of visitors to the DSF was a record 3.3 million and majority of them visited the Carpet Oasis, including VIP's.
