Carpet Barn Named Mohawk ColorCenter Dealer of the

Dalton, GA, Apr. 14--Mohawk Industries has selected The Carpet Barn, headquartered in Pine Bluff, AR, as its Mohawk ColorCenter Dealer of the Year for 2004. The retailer was selected from Mohawk ColorCenter stores nationwide as the dealership that most completely executed the concepts and ideas behind the Mohawk ColorCenter Concept. The Carpet Barn was singled out for the Dealer of the Year Award based on a number of criteria set up by Mohawk, including sales growth, consumer experiences, promotion and installation ideas, commitment to training and addressing customer expectations, community involvement, and excellence in promoting the store concept. Begun 40 years ago as The Drape Shop, the business added carpet in 1966, and opened the Carpet Barn as a retail business in 1973. Owners Randy Drewry, Rick Drewry, and Bob Jones bought out The Drape Shop in 1988, and now have four stores in North Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Hot Springs Village, and Hot Springs, Arkansas. For the last two years, the Arkansas Democrat, the state’s largest newspaper, has named Carpet Barn the “Best Floorcovering Store” in its annual reader’s poll. That means a lot to the owners. “It’s particularly good when people write in your name as the place they want to shop,” Drewry said. “Randy, Rick, and Bob run a business that is definitely an example to follow for Mohawk ColorCenter stores--or any floorcovering store, for that matter,” said Manny Llerena, Mohawk Vice President of Retail Marketing. “Their attention to customer service has created an atmosphere in their market area where people know their store by name, and recommend the Carpet Barn to their friends. That’s the power of branding, and Mohawk is honored to be a co-branding partner with this company,” he said.
