Carpet and Rug Institute Restructuring

Dalton, GA, Aug. 18, 2011 -- The Carpet and Rug Institute is being reorganized to streamline the organization.

CRI, with a staff of 15 and a budget of $4.3 million, now features a board of directors, a policy committee, an operating committee and seven issues management teams and three committees.

The new structure would replace the operating committee with a Strategic Issue Leadership Council, consisting of up to 10 seats, with nine of them coming from mill manufacturers and one associate manufacturer.

The council would provide strategic guidance, oversight, and approval of panel decisions.

Three panels, including a performance and standards panel, a deselection panel, and an EPR and CARE panel, would replace 10 committees and issues management teams.

Task groups would manage and provide solutions for issues assigned by the leadership council through the three panels.

"Without question, the new organizational structure will make CRI a more focused and effective organization," said CRI President Werner Braun. He added that membership lists for the SILC and panels are currently being populated.
