January 30, 2007, Troy, North Carolina--James Turner was the lucky winner of a $30,000 Capel rug gallery, said Capel's vice president of marketing Bud Young recently.
Capel held a drawing for the gallery at High Point Furniture Market in October, offering registration cards to any dealer who entered the Capel showroom. Turner, Accessory Buyer and Visual Director for Bob Mills Furniture, was filling out a rug order when he noticed the Capel Gallery Giveaway registration cards on a counter at the front of the showroom.
On a whim, he entered the contest, and when his Capel sales representative, Jan Howard, called three weeks later to tell him that he'd won, he was floored, saying, “I never thought I’d win!"
The $30,000 gallery will be integrated into the layout of a new store that Bob Mills Furniture is opening in Lubbock, Texas, in 2007. A Capel team will work directly with the Bob Mills staff to customize the gallery's design and product line to ensure a good fit for the Lubbock market.
Young said there is incredible profit potential for furniture stores in area rug sales, which he hoped to demonstrate through the Gallery Giveaway. "With Capel's diversity of colors and styles, we can customize a rug gallery for any dealer," he said. "And to keep stock moving, our gallery program provides continued sales and marketing support, with Zip Ship same day shipping, POS software and retail sales training."
The program also includes marketing support in the form of print and television advertisements, direct mail, newspaper inserts and easy online-ordering on Capel's business-to-business Web site. Perhaps most importantly, however, the program provides an infinite array of imported and domestically made area rugs of unrivaled quality that Capel's customers have to come to expect from the rug manufacturer, now in its 90th year.
"Our customer knows the Capel name," Turner said. "This gallery will really add substance to our line of products at the new location."
Turner has worked on behalf of Bob Mills with Howard, Capel's Oklahoma account executive, for nearly three years and said that in that time, Capel has been his number one rug dealer. “Capel’s quality is amazing, and I’m thrilled to have a gallery to showcase Capel’s product on such a grand scale."
