Canada's Crossley Carpet Issues Layoffs

Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada – Crossley Carpet Mills has issued layoff notices as the economy continues to weaken.

The firm has issued about 40 layoff notices that come into effect this week.

The company said the layoffs are simply a business reaction to a down-turned economy that is having a similar effect on its American-owned parent company Tandus.

The reduced staff will leave the factory with about 280 hourly workers and 80 management employees.
